Librairie Laurentienne is a bookstore located at Saint-Laurent Cegep, serving students by providing essential books and school materials. The business primarily relied on a legacy inventory management system to manage its products. To meet the growing demand for online shopping and enhance their services, Librairie Laurentienne decided to build an e-commerce platform, enabling students to purchase books and materials online. The key challenge was to ensure seamless integration between the new platform and their existing legacy inventory management system.

Challenge

Librairie Laurentienne faced a critical challenge in transitioning from a physical-only retail model to an online e-commerce system. The bookstore’s inventory was tracked using a legacy physical management system, which was not designed for real-time, multi-channel sales. Any online expansion needed to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the current inventory records. Solution

To ensure smooth operations between the digital and physical sales channels, we built a custom backend service using NodeJS and ExpressJS. This service acted as a bridge between the e-commerce site and Librairie Laurentienne’s legacy inventory system.
